This is one of those exceptions (it's just an EP) personally curated by Daddy Satan himself.
They have the grindcore stuff down hard. They aren't as frantic (which is to be predicted) as you'd expect it to be (it's for a structural reason) but that doesn't make them loose their punchiness because of how well everything is mixed and the symphonic and, I want to say, jazzy bits are delicious flourishes. Even when you think it starts to get a bit too grandiose, there are some harsh or dissonant beats to ground it.
I know I usually harp on synths (though I'm not a
glub ing expert at identifying them) but again, it's an issue of mixing (and a lot of this album rides the line of electronica.) If these are synths, I can't tell- but it doesn't matter. The traditional instruments hear sound beautiful and crisp. Some of the parts remind me of a JRPG soundtrack (durr hurr nerd hears classical music and thinks JRPG - literally me-on-
M E X before.
)
I want to say it's really easy to take an idea like this and phone it in but this doesn't feel like it. It doesn't feel like a gimmick, it feels like they actually give a shit about the composition. Probably because one of the dudes involved in the project had experience with progressive metal.

Absolvement of Viscaria plays things straight as a sincere (or as /hgg2d/ has said, manipulative) character drama first and foremost. We critics can say this is intended to add the spice of irony to the coming depravity in the full game, but at that point, the direction the story takes is the player's choice.
Secondly, I didn't "write" any of it, Manuri did. The translation is simply my adaptation of the Japanese. Actually, if I had the balls to exercise editorial control, I'd cut a few of the more interminable H-scenes down to 200 lines or less, vgh.
Still, I did my best to respect the work. If some of the prose crosses in to
purple territory, I may be at fault. Composing sexy scenes is tricky enough, let alone trying to balance that with the perspective of a “zero-experience ingenue who’d blush to hear the word ‘cock.’, so, the Liedna-narrated ones took me a while.
Being an eroge, there's an intrinsic vulgarity in portraying scenes of masturbation, clitoris-stiffening curses, pissing in public, etc (though the early matrimonial lovemaking scene manages to be tooth-rottingly wholesome, imo.)
