Violetbloods? I have no idea. I get the feeling that they were too fixated on making either LORE or meme characters or just generally hyper-specific characters in general. A fourth of characters are just random jobs to try and force world-building onto Alternia, another fourth is an attempt at making fun of Internet archetypes or just outright meme characters, another fourth are basically remixes of existing character traits and attributes even though it doesn't make much sense (LE RATHER OBSCURE CULT.) The rest are misc. and boring.
I think violetbloods were left out because all they could think of is "pirate" and nobody really cared to make another pirate, I guess. Then again, the cast is already bloated to shit and they're trying to force screen time on all of them. It wouldn't surprise me if there were even MOAR characters because they wanted to hit a seadweller quota. It's all just femoid over-indulgence.

It's amazing how Amnesia: The Dark Descent took the gaming world by storm and nothing came of it. You would think Konami would look at the sanity gimmick and be like "Oh, yeah, that could work for a subtitled Silent Hill entry"
You don't even see the sanity mechanic in anything and I feel like you kind of have to blame Slender. Yes, the whole "You have to look at it" thing is easy and fun but you need to build the game around it and add more. As for "mechanics involving you looking at things", "look at the monster so it doesn't move" is easier to implement and a lot easier to get an effect from than a sanity system so it basically became a stock mechanic including FRASHRIGHT BATTEREE and HIDE IN LOCKER.
Even with my somewhat extensive (more than the average person, I guess) knowledge of shitty indie horror games, I can only think of a handful that try to do a sanity mechanic. The Slender teleporter is, in comparison, obviously innumerable.

Then of course, the follow-up Amnesia game was released to collective groans.
It feels weird to bring up it now, like it's somehow irrelevant or antiquated. There's something weird that goes on in the gaming world where people's retention for shit goes out the window. Call it astroturfing or hype or whatever but there are so many games that came out and had critical acclaim and huge audiences that if you bring them up now, you'd get the vaguest of recollections. Like, shit, remember when Heavy Rain legitimately captivated people?
I don't know if this is just my intuition speaking but it feels like it was only unique to games until very recently- or like, movies and shows had longer shelf-lives than games until very recently. I think the age of streaming has really brought down viewer retention. What's the point of great art if you can only vaguely remember giving a shit about it just five years later? Did it really succeed in doing anything, then?
I forget if I've talked about this already.

Like, holy shit, how embarrassing for everyone involved for that to be the big take-away and show up in way more games.
Not that it's bad, and I know I complain about the game industry being derivative (as I should) but there's a lot you can do with sanity mechanics in SURVIVAL HORROR (which Amnesia is not) that just wasn't done "for some reason."

>>163146Is it the same one as the one on Steam?
>Analog horror
>And I'm assuming it's really short based on its price
Also, the sanity mechanic shouldn't just be an alternative death condition like FLASHLIGHT MANAGEMENT. Because that's boring and doesn't make much sense.
I do know that one
grimdark tree craftmine game that people went gaga does have a sanity mechanic (I think; I refuse to use ChatGPT for tasks like this) and you can be an asshole and technically call that survival horror but obviously I mean something level-based and first-person or with fixed camera angles.

Though the thought processes of people who worship Half Life 2 do elude me in general.
>>163148I've mentioned it before but I don't remember if it was about sanity mechanics in general. It's rough-around-the-edges but it's worth remembering just for the experimentation. The sanity thing wasn't the only unique thing going for it.

It's baffling, that out of all the formats out there, I've never heard of one that only plays with vanilla lands. It says to me that MTG neckbeards don't understand one of the strongest design elements of their own game.
Yu-Gi-Oh has even less scruples when it comes to design but at least that's anime bullshit and they regularly make absurdly gimmicky or niche bullshit that'd never be allowed in the "serious game designer" club that is MTG unless it's a joke set.

There's even footage of the engine reflected in a glass cabinet behind him in the webcam, which both during post-game analysis (where he is openly using an engine) and during live games (in online tournaments with prize money) you can see him looking at the other monitor while suggesting out loud an extremely unnatural computer-like move under time pressure. Also he was supposedly one of the best online players but not even top 100 in over the board chess.

It's the result of trying to write two narratives that are fundamentally opposed to each other. The worst kind of writing. The Mystery Box variety. All pretentious bullshit that collapses in on itself.
Shit like HBO Watchmen. The ideas that destroyed Homestuck weren't heady or anything; it was just "herpa derp gotta close the loop" at the cost of all cohesion, narrative weight, logical consistency… I don't even have to name the second thing. >>163392>dunno repopulating the dead universe seems stupid. its dead.Don't you start with me.

I must reiterate with what I said here before, there are tons of little hints that the universes' procreation is meant to be sexually analogous.
Furthermore, it seems in line with SBurb's M.O to leave a trail of sapient worlds with remnants from them game so that they can splinter out into even more sessions. Yes, universes may lose sapient life but it seems antithetical to "what seemed to be the point of SBurb initially" have the game's universe die instantly as soon as it "reproduces" partially because, in the comic, it's essentially asexual (even though it shouldn't be.)
In my view, SBurb is supposed to be some multiversal cancer that rapidly expands its "genealogy" instead of just being a long line (or an epic time loop), something something growing up, possibilities, failure to accept restrictions or limits, etc.
I also always found it weird that there are two vaguely bug themed races in Homestuck and they have no canon relation despite one of them being heavily socially and- implied to be or maybe this is outright, I forget- biologically engineered. But whatever. I know people will spit on that.

         FROM THE DESK OFROSE LALONDE
Arseniy Turbin was only 14 when he posted a YouTube video boldly opposing Putin & Russia's war on Ukraine. A top student in math & physics, he dreamed of studying political science to fix his country. Instead, he became Russia's youngest political prisoner, arrested for distributing about 100 anti-Putin leaflets he'd printed himself—no orders, just conviction. At 15, a Moscow military court sentenced him to 5 years in a juvenile colony under bogus "terrorism" charges for allegedly joining the Freedom of Russia Legion (a Russian unit aiding Ukraine). Human rights group Memorial calls it pure repression.
Now 17, Arseniy's endured hell: beaten by cellmate Azizbek (punched in bed, head shoved in toilet), poisoned by others, isolated in solitary, lost 17kg from stress & barely eating.
Yet letters show he's unbowed—studying remotely, tracking global news like the 2024 prisoner swaps, refusing to renounce his views. This is Putin's war on kids.
Yet those (rightly) condemning Israel's arrestations of Palestinian child prisoners, held without charge are often silent on cases like this. True solidarity means no double standards. - RL  No.163626

As an Asian, I feel I have authority on rice: Eating rice with your hands is gross, strange, and barbaric. Nobody in my family has ever done this.
Koreans, Japanese, and Chinese don't eat rice with our hands. It's only South East Asians.
Asians not eating loose rice with our hands doesn't mean we "want to be white". Hand shovel is primitive and uncivilised. Ergo, Jungle behaviour. Jungle Asians have no argument so it always comes back to white people. Chopsticks were invented in 1,200 B.C.
It's so all tiresome.

         Okay, a 32-fold heavenly structure
We have 16 moon phases (divided into eights, doubled for wax/wane)
12 months to a year (perhaps represented as the zodiac symbols)
and 4 seasons/classic elements/humors
16+12+4 = 32
16:12:4 also can be reduced to 4:
3:1, HOMESTUCK NUMBER, but ordered properly instead of by arbitrary chance
