I'm sure Homer's contempt was Matt's idea but Ned actually being wholesome probably didn't come from him.
This is probably even more baseless and likely to be wrong but I also can't see any of the moments that deeply humanize Homer coming from Matt either because daddy issues.
>>171283Hence my spite for Matt and The Simpsons. But I've run that into the ground.
A lot of mediocre people get wildly successful. It's one thing if it's for something they did (which is largely not the case here) and it's another if it inspired or captivated a lot of people (which is very much the case here.) It is a third thing if you don't use that success to try and actually do shit which I think is largely not the case here. I thought Futurama's pilot was funny, here's a shekel.
I was wrong about him being credited with literally one (1) episode of The Simpsons but still. The numbers don't lie- take away the pilots and misc. and it's like one episode per year of airing for Simps. This gets worse when you realize he has one other show that lasted fairly long and another show with a standard run.
The man has a deathgrip on the senses of humor and creative instincts of two generations through fairly banal jokes that he didn't even write.

I know this is pedantic but I really wish people would be more transparent when they speak of their "inspirations." Our language doesn't have a good way to express this, you'd just have to preface it with "The idea of"

My brain has to started ruminate on the idea of a premise even in my addled state. Whenever I write horror, it's very macroscopic which is good to start but bad for the kind of game it'd theoretically be. Ultimately, the more coherence there is, the less horrific things are and the more

I think he made them back-up lives because of the Problem Sleuth model (keep in mind that this concept is a carry-over to begin with, now just with slightly more important narrative implications) and gave up on the psychological angle because he stopped giving up on any serious, non-metatheatrical narrative angle eventually.

Whack-a-mole will always be more popular, not because it's inherently more entertaining, but because it requires less cerebral investment (investment is the key word, not engagement. Because RPGs can still be fun with most encounters being spam X)
If you take away from any bit of OBVIOUS AND SIMPLE POWER SYSTEMS, CLEAR PROGRESSION, SIMPLE STORY, NO GRINDAN' (note how these are all basically the opposite of what makes RPGs RPGs), STYLE, WAIFUS, you're losing huge figures because anything that'd ward people off from RPGs (because they're RPGs) will get filtered so you have to make the "Not like other RPGs" RPG and bing, bing get that Persona 5 money.
Most people these days have to be tricked into playing an RPG through a combination of graphix, presentation, and dating sims (Witcher 2-3, Mass Effect, Persona 5.) Don't call it a grave.
I'm waiting for the ultimate level of homogenization which would be a Western JRPG to finally peel back the last layer of resistance against JRPGs ("UGH, ANIME.") It will star attractive young adults in an urban fantasy setting, be
pii22 easy, require zero GRINDAN', be strictly linear, have heavily stylized UI (this is extremely important to the average anti-RPG subhuman), have a dodge roll, and Social Links.

>>171995"HIVESWAP ACT 3 NEWS
There was just a three-hour+ Act 3 stream that showed the first part of the act. It seemed much like the train section of act 2, featuring long stretches of talking to a bunch of fantrolls around Jeevik's mansion and making minor short-term decisions once every 20 conversations (they said choices might matter down the line). There were no puzzles whatsoever.
Throughout the section, two music tracks played, maybe composed by James Roach or a good impersonator. They were a bit weird, feeling more like short one minute loops that repeated over and over and over.
Unless it appears later, the feature of being able to access an Amazon-like shop and other troll websites seems to have been cut. The only feature other than walking and talking was a "clout meter" that went up or down depending on who you talked to.
They called this 3-hour section with three large environments a "scene", and a small part of Act 3. Supposedly the full thing will be longer than A1+A2 combined… then someone anxiously piped in to say it's longer by WORD count. It feels really wordy but in a visual novel sense.
At the end, this image was shown, though we already knew 2026 was the plan. They said what was shown is a fully playable demo they'll release soon, I assume on Steam. They want to do it before the end of the year. Saves won't transfer into the main game."
