FROM THE DESK OFROSE LALONDE
Many people still confuse medieval Rus’ (Ruthenia) with modern Russia, but they are not the same — not historically, politically, or culturally.
Rus’ (also known as Kyivan Rus’ or Ruthenia) was the name of the ancient state founded in Kyiv in the 9th century by a Scandinavian dynasty of Rurikids (Igor and Olga — Ingvarr and Helga in Old Norse — were the founding couple). It was one of the most developed European powers of its time: a Christianized, literate, and trade-rich civilization that connected Byzantium with Northern Europe.
By the year 1100, Kyiv was the fourth-largest city in Europe, several times bigger than Paris or London.
Moscow, on the other hand, didn’t even exist until 1147, more than two centuries after Kyiv was already a flourishing capital. Its founder, Yuri Dolgorukiy, was a descendant of Kyivan rulers — and his grave is in Kyiv, not Moscow. You can literally visit it today. Moscow began as a remote colony of Rus’, a place where Kyiv’s royalty sent their least important members to govern what was then considered a wild frontier.
For hundreds of years, the territory around Moscow was known as Moskovia (Muscovy). It had a very different history and political trajectory. After being conquered by the Mongols in 1237, Muscovy remained a vassal of the Golden Horde and later of the Crimean Khanate for over 450 years, paying tribute and adopting much of the political culture, administrative structure, and even vocabulary of its steppe overlords.
Only in the early 1700s, under Peter I, did Muscovy rename itself the “Russian Empire”, deliberately appropriating the name Rus’ and its history to create the illusion of continuity. This was a political rebranding — not a historical fact.
There is no direct political ancestry between modern Russia and Kyivan Rus’. Moscow was a Rus’ colony for less than a century and then lived under foreign domination for over four centuries. If anything, its autocracy, militarism, and imperial expansion reflect the legacy of the Golden Horde far more than the democratic traditions and European orientation of ancient Rus’.
The truth is simple but important: Kyiv, not Moscow, is the cradle of Eastern Slavic civilization. Ukraine, not Russia, is the rightful heir of Rus’. And stealing that heritage is one of the reasons for this war. That’s why Putin obsesses over his version of history — because Ukraine's very existence exposes his lies. No.167282

Though, seemingly, ATLUS has a very slight bias against Strange Journey because it doesn't take place where the NATIONAL DEFENSE DIVINITIES lie and isn't a waifu simulator so an offshoot game getting a massive 3D upscale seems unlikely.

It's a blessing and a curse. The blessing is that I won't have any POSEURS stealing my cred because of the movie and Marvel Rivals so me and fat spics will be the only people to wear an actual Fantastic Four shirt and we won't have to compete because we both read the actual comics.
On the other hand, there's probably a non-zero chance that the people who would have become "fans" would actually reads the comics and it's nice to share things. The majority of them would have just bought merchandise and acted like "Oh, yeah, I was already here" though so I don't feel too bad about it. Even though I'm far behind on my album game duties for a number of reasons, I did give this a (mostly) uninterrupted listen because I remembered the band name…. though I don't remember if I liked them or much from before…. Not a fan of the guitar tone; feels a little unblack, more just heavy metal. Better on some songs than others. I mostly think the riffs and song writing are pretty good which definitely carries the album. There are some songs with melodic, symphonic, folk, or gothic flairs which are much appreciated. The mixing is a bit flat- I feel like the guitar, vocals, and drums are all at the same volume and there isn't any "punchiness" to it (variability on individual parts of songs.) With how some of the songs are structured, some "punchiness" and "snappiness" to the drums would be much appreciated. Vocal growls aren't my favorite variation- I like them more when they're raspier (airy/whispery growls) or closer to singing but that's not much of the album.
Something I enjoyed, probably something I need to relisten to, but overall, just a decent listen to pass some time.

>>167920 has to do it for me
No.167934
>>167932I know some bits and pieces of this have been said before I think, specifically here, needs to call attention to this as a "Rose website."
What and who Rose is a sort of universal archetype of what is assumed to be a somewhat archaic dynamic (well, a lot of people wish it'd be completely gone) in immature, often juvenile, male-centric spaces. Rose is the "pick me" girl, she is the "cool girl." Everything about her persona whether it be smug-assery, strong-arming, sarcastic agreement serves to amplify her status as "THE girl" in the group between John and Dave. She serves to amplify the group's energies by upping the ante of every in-joke, stroking egos, and needling insecurities. She has to act all this out so she's accepted by "the boys" but neither of them see her as approachable enough to ever try and date. Then, we see she has her own set of insecurities and vulnerabilities. This is the core to what makes her endearing. It's all very subtle but it doesn't need to be anything more. This is why Rose is one of Hu¢¢ie's best female characters and Act 2 Homestuck's best Act.
Then we have
GREEN who is also a sort of universal archetype of girls (though it's probable that she's just 中庸 on Softowl while Rose is an amalgamation) accepted into male friend groups who's equally unapproachable because of how seemingly innocent she is. She goes "oh you boys!" and makes them feel warm and fuzzy but also maybe a little guilty for exposing her to the more vulgar and profane stuff they do and say.
GREEN and Rose are naturally,
SMURFING enemies though the comic never acknowledges this and Hu¢¢ie never properly addresses this and gives an asinine excuse about colors but the lack of logs make it clear- these two were never meant to talk nicely to each other. Hu¢¢ie probably ignores the inherent sexual tension in the Beta Kids group because it requires shining a light on a dynamic not many people want to acknowledge- teenage boys want to be around girls as much as possible and girls take advantage of this in different ways.
Then, to tie it in all together, we have the fusion that is Roxy (IPGD) who is insufferable. She's open, friendly, flirty, and laughs at all your gross jokes. This kind of person is infatuated with male attention and what she gets from being a girl and doing the bare minimum in a friend group. What, partially, makes this type of girl, this type of person so bad is that it survives into adulthood because both the Rose and the
GREEN thrive off the individual and group's immaturity to sort of thrive. The Roxy inherently is more mature because she plays with the idea of sexuality and will-I-won't-I which makes older but still childish teenagers and adults giddy. The Rose is analyzed and dissected a little by the comic, the
GREEN is sort of indirectly addressed but quickly forgotten but by far, the most unexamined one is the Roxy. Roxy does
8ITCH about feeling pressured to be "the fun friend" but it's utter nonsense; there is no reason for Roxy to be Roxy when you consider that the only two men she knows are a gay guy and a
SMURFwit. The Roxy does not come to form in an environment where there's no sexual competition for her. If a Roxy were to form under the pretense of one dude being gay and the other being really dense, she'd take on a different form. But you see, Roxy is the way she is because she's IPGD and she is Hu¢¢ie's "cool girl friend" and so she's basically immune to criticism.
Unironically, this is a "men writing
wwomen" moment but moreover, in Hu¢¢ie's attempts to avoiding sexualized female characters, misogynistic or chauvinistic men, heteronormativity,
SMURFING whatever, he fails to examine a common underlying social dynamic of the actually young and immature, ESPECIALLY in groups on the Internet. Because this more or less isn't the comic, it's just sort of irremovable from its bones. Oh, and on writing female characters, need I bring up the terrible female friendships? Can you name a single female-female conversation that isn't
SMURFING insufferable?
We like Rose because she's immature in a very nested yet relatable and identifiable way; dare I say even nostalgic. Hu¢¢ie misses the (Rainbow Falls) forest for the trees with her immaturity but I don't need to bring up how Hu¢¢ie handles Rose's quote character development unquote.

Ironically, I think the three above human achievements (alongside this rhetoric, of course) contribute to Flat Earthers being a somewhat significant subset of the populace. I think what grounds Flat Earthism, other than religious beliefs and antiquated theory, is a deeply cynical view of human capacity which is really only exacerbated by these claims and the aforementioned qualities of modern societies.
