I really, really don't want it to be generic wholesome-to-scary.
My brain has taken the idea and reassessed it. I was thinking it should be some of literal maze inhabited by some kind of theologically ambiguous usury demon vaguely inspired by Melchom. I think the design would be some of nebulous gargoyle because I try to avoid superficial aesthetic influences.
I was thinking again of some resource system (which my brain always goes back to.) I'm imagining using color-coded (maybe explicitly 中庸 on a real life pre-existing coin system if I can find one interesting and relevant enough) where you start out with an excess amount of coins of higher value (but sort of in the median range so that this dynamic plays out) where you can use their actual value or their amount for a variety of numeric puzzles. For obvious reasons, I think the lowest value coin should be 2. The relative value of the coin goes up the less ones you have. I need some way to encourage the central dynamic since value is logically almost always the better option but flat stipulations seem uninteresting and dare I say, contrived.
Multiple endings depending on coin count and variety? The puzzles
SMURFING hurt and cost resources so I can't think of a good reason to do them; I was assuming they're some kind of way of paying debt by the demon. Perhaps you yourself were a loaner and you free the souls of the lives you lead to debauchery or squalor (depending on their fortune) due to your use of the inherently evil mechanism of investment with interest…
I gave this out in a very stream-of-consciousness way. This is probably my best shot. I feel like the haiku explanation is very "digital"-coded and this wouldn't have that.
As for the haiku itself, I wouldn't see the game being very applicable and I'd have to think on how to make it work so I'm still not satisfied.

This is basically the point where I'm frustrated and give up so so much for being "limited-scope."

>Is there any redemptive aspect?Probably not. I think you're just damned no matter what but your comparative misery is lessened by what you offer the demon (say you move up from one circle of Hell to another in a shorter span of hundreds of years when the "debt" is thousands and the punishment is still eternal- just lesser.)

We grew up to just barely remember/see it or live in a world radically affected by it in our most foundational years. It was basically the easiest shock joke for like a decade because of how devastating it was for the country. The New World Order established by the NSA caused a cultural shift in media, both big and small, to become fixated on going past the limits of good taste for the sake of it. A decade where privacy and censorship were the foremost concern of Americans; what do we have now?

>His novels usually involve a child with positive traits.Because of his fixation on perfect children; he had an ideal and seemed annoyed by regular children. This is illuminated, somewhat, in his
8ITCHing about The Chocolate Factory adaptation ("No, Charlie must LITERALLY be perfect, how dare you make the story more about Willy Wonka's self-realization")
>I thought the author had a perverted sentimentality and was unafraid to confront the worst things in life.Semi-true? He had very black-and-white thinking. All of the morbid stuff is less him thinking about kids and more just stemmed from his own nature; he had a morbid mind, he wasn't exactly thinking of the kids (an early draft for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was scrapped because it was way too dark and his nephew said he didn't like it at all) but that's how he found his niche.

Really embarrassing in terms of writing, gameplay, and spritework (and not in the endearing way that I think that most Nip RPGMaker affairs are. You can argue that I only find them charming because COOL JAPAN and I don't know if I can argue against that) but at least the dev being a horny spic led to a sexy design so… that's that.
I looked up his name to confirm he was a spic and instead got confirmation that hey, we've seen this guy before.
Titty monster proportions are what he's best known for. Pinocchiogoria is probably his best known game and best game, from what I know. Unfortunately, the jiggle physics were only used for an obese elderly woman but knowing him, that still probably gets him off.
I thought I was at a loss RPGMaker horror wise but a serendipitous upload occurred. After I'm done with that, I'm going to have to do a deep dive and try and find a truly consistent, recent, and active channel for this kind of thing.

Sometimes I wonder how the Rod Sterlings/Vault of Horrors/Haunt of Fear/Tales from The Crypt/Stephen Kings of the world were able to write so many anthology horror stories. Obviously, yes, some of them were bad and a lot of collaboration was involved with some of these examples but still. I feel like novel horror ideas are hard to come up with as opposed to novel gags or sci-fi one-offs.
I've wanted, for a long time, to be able to train my brain into horror anthology mode but I always work best with a long-form story. I don't think that's just me. I think a lot of people struggle with that and pander to the lowest common denominator of spooky monster or

That is to say that the "story" part of "short story" is left out and horror, unlike again, comedy or science fiction, is something that is strongly rooted in narrative structure. Tension and release.

I didn't realise it before, but from what I've gathered Depth Loop may play more similarly to this game than to Raging Loop (see pic related, but I don't think it's actual "AI"). That might solve the problems of Gnosia if it has good writing like Raging Loop.
This game got me thinking about how a werewolf simulation could be improved. I was surprised by how streamlined and fun Gnosia's runs were to play, despite the fact that the characters repeat the same lines and there's no illusion that you're doing more than playing solitaire against bots with randomly assigned roles. I wondered about some kind of "argument" system where you can freely construct statements about the players, behaviour, and roles, and then the other characters reason about and react to them with their own nuanced arguments.

He just failed to capitalize on it because of fears of writing saccharine puppy love or writing thirteen year old boys and girls how they should be in general (John's "wet t-shirt contest" letter is his highest achievement in this regard and not-so-incidentally, an important part of
grimdorks canon.) Actually, to go even further with this, it becomes clear that the Kids early on were written to all have sets of insecurities (except
GREEN because, you know) but it all comes out in the wash to woobify Dave. Later Homestuck makes it clear that Dave is the insecure one™ and Rose is just guarded, self-destructive, and paranoid and John's insecurities mostly manifest in the form of psychotic chimp rage so his behavior becomes almost pathological-
GREEN realizes she's ronery, I guess.
So again, comic about KIDS AND FUN turns into the author's favorite character featuring character assassinations on everyone else.

I had an idea for a new type of game, it's a werewolf simulation that runs autonomously with NPCs on a website, but you can join in live at any time by taking the place of one of the NPCs. Also, to reduce server load the NPC actions are procedural with seeded RNG and only non-NPC actions are recorded. Completed game results would still have to be stored though if I wanted some kind of browsable game history, but everything that happened during the game could be dynamically recalculated. Someone could cheat with a VPN and control other players if they wanted to ruin their own fun, but I'll design around having 0-1 players.

>>169136Would be fun actually, my first suggestion was a future expansion where it could run a simulated "pokemon league", but that is rather fraught, given Ninty
Instead, I'll suggest adding a loyal and customizable partner the (single) player can design to help them
No.169139
>>169137>a simulated "pokemon league"I think Twitch/Claude Plays Pokemon are enough to suggest that would be entertaining, but yeah also copywrong issues and coding in all the Pokemon and moves would be time consuming.
>a loyal and customizable partnerThat's an interesting idea which would be natural to add if there's already AI for the NPCs. Maybe you could even configure your partner's personality and let them take over if you don't feel like playing yourself. There's a lot of opportunity for customisation for the NPCs too, there could be generations of evolving characters that players can vote on to influence their appearance and behaviour.

Unironically, an emergent "social deduction game" where you're in a massive server and naturally, some people grief would be a lot of fun. If people saw that pitch, they'd steer away but it would make for great videos, occasional "normal games", and chaos for the people that'd enjoy that.
You kind of get that with TTT but uh, I know I'm not in the right place for TTT nostalgia because it's a bit past all your ojisans' time but it's kind of fallen off due to lootcrate servers and dregmins being on 24/7.
Big servers with no admins that devolve into half RDM and half "KoS this guy because he RDMs" was the most fun bullshit.

And maybe we can brainstorm something a lot more original than just "SS13 (with no antagonist roles) but on even larger servers and with more complex X, Y, and Z"
