Why, yes, I do only listen to Swedish sarcastic black metal.
Somewhere in-between hot and cold black metal. It's a unique beast in a lot of ways and entirely generic in other ways. The riffs, I feel need even more depraved vocals (what we have is what what I'd call a "wet" vocal fry scream- eh, with some spoken word and normal sort of screams- that are distinct from black metal's typically raspy vocals, shrieks, and screeches)- they're pretty bare bones. But it's an interesting mix; hard to describe with (even) my usual idiosyncratic descriptors. There's an almost completely prevailing indifference to time signatures with how the vocals go over the riffs which you would think would put it more into atmospheric territory but it's not quite there; there's a lot of gaps, and there's a lack of homogeneity in the riffs or lyrical content that would form a coherent "atmosphere." What we have is very chaotic music, even if it's not especially noisy.
Now, this band was only chosen to add to the album game on a whim because the album game is full of a bunch of random qualifiers (random lyrical contents with reviewed albums being one; this time, it was "pedophilia") but this is a very interesting band. I thought I was walking into a standard affair that one or two guys just really liked because it was TRVE KVLT but it stands out from the pack in a couple of ways. And from what I can tell, their other albums are significantly different from this outing so I'll try them because this band is genuinely experimental and a breath of fresh air. Now, is it good music? Is it black metal I enjoy…? Ironically, I'm still kind of on the fence (like with all the mediocre stuff I trudge through), a lot of songs work better than others. Fair amount of diversity. You could consider at least two of the songs joke songs.
