SMURF up, schizo. You never elaborate on what this shit means so I'm just going to assume its completely baseless. John as Gen-X is predicated solely on his taste in movies even though he loves them unironically in a way that would feel very millennial (or, really, agenerational.) John's sincerity and stalwart optimism are also not very Gen-X. When thinking of these things, I think of all the soy John memes and I awkwaaard because they only exist because John was left to float around in a shit comic and then get portrayed as an adult and all that does my boy so dirty that of course this is the interpretation picked up by soy retards.

All of the boys would be juvenile, mocking, jocular, and callous to some extent.
Main boy: Unaffected by most weird shit trying to manipulate him, largely indifferent due to Asperger's (depression.) Tends to check out when shit gets bad.
Foil: Occasionally gets swept up by manipulation but also has a tendency to get very pissed off at manipulation and proactively work against it. Short-tempered and self-righteous.
Mascot: The most kind-hearted and selfless but extremely immature and perverse which makes him best friends with Fat Boy. He tends not to care at all about weird shit from the start. Dies a lot.
Fat boy: Impulsive, childishly naive, and bratty but exhibits some cunning. The most foulmouthed and crass of all of them, he tends to try and take advantage of whatever weird shit is going on with varying degrees of success.

>>172544Metallum was down so I'm going slightly out of order since this is the one with the album (while the other was just the band.) I really like the tuning, the riffs, and the mixing (except…) holy shit, the vocals, they feel like a blight upon the music. Only in some specific parts of songs do they work. I wish they'd turn it on and off during a song. Some songs are better with it and some songs are worse with it, in totality. It feels like a very one-size-fits-all filter/style because it definitely suits some songs better than others. That is to say, I don't think they were being very conscientious with how they approached this shit. I'll have to check the other albums on Metallum to see if the vocal style is the same across all their releases.
The voice is just too loud. It also sounds like its own track- it doesn't feel fuzzy or like it's distorted in the same way the guitars are which makes it feel sonically mismatched. The doubled voice thing sounds especially bad and too clean (though props for trying to harmonize extreme vocals which is something I've always wondered about) though it's better in some parts. Less fuzz = worse black metal.
The transitions aren't too natural (and some intermittent riffs sound like some peppy prog rock)- something's wrong melodically. Most of the time the voice just envelops the riff and that's the transition. It keeps making me stop and do double-takes. Symphonically, it lacks a clear direction which isn't always a problem but here it is.
>Random basic heavy metal breakdown in the middle of completely distorted black metalOkay, stop, that's

What's crazy is that Bart was a cultural scare for a hot minute because he was slightly edgier than Beaver Cleaver. I guess you can attribute The Simpsons to more adult animation but South Park made it less just "animated sitcoms" and actually did things with animation that couldn't be replicated with live actors (and was far more extreme.) Sout Park has outright acknowledged the juxtaposition. But, even for its time, the Bart outrage was quaint. It's hard to imagine The Simpsons as counter-culture at all, it was just a slight nudge in the sitcom status quo. Now the father is short-tempered AND stupid. Now the child is slightly more mischievous.

People who are older than 30 seem… slower and just dumber in general. I observed this within several groups so I don't think it's a selection effect. Even older people with a lot of knowledge clearly move and think slower. I don't know if that's a life worth living, the standard way to age "gracefully" is to have a corrupt network of friends who you can circlejerk with to maintain a collective illusion that it's only your bodies which are falling to pieces and somehow your minds are separate and timeless. Also it's a fact that your parents were unironically stupid and dulled to 50% by the time you were a teenager. Is there a way to age with freedom and dignity? I'm most worried about getting stuck in a pattern and never changing or growing past a certain point, as many seem to do.

SMURFING remake of an ancient thing isn't going to have the same steam. DQ Treasures and Monsters 3 had more of a "we want kids" aesthetic but uhhh the games weren't that good.
No.172948
I think they need to make another MMO. Kids love social games, Japanese kids especially, but DQX is now 100% gambling addicted nekama ozisan and the population is spread thin over a decade of updates, so new players end up just playing a single player RPG while occasionally seeing other people run around. They can keep DQX running and update it occasionally like FF11.

some reviews:
hong kong disneyland: built during disney's post euro disney flop era. as a result, doesn't have as stacked a lineup as the other foreign disney parks, but isn't crowded most days, which is nice. the unique rides here (mystic manor, an early-ish trackless dark ride that slots in for the haunted mansion, and runaway mine cars, which mixes big thunder mountain with some ride elements from expedition everest) are must-dos, along with the jungle cruise, which has a weird multilingual setup due to needing to support visitors speaking english, cantonese and mandarin. stark expo, a section of tomorrowland rethemed to phase 2-ish mcu, is generally skippable, but given that you won't likely need to wait long in line for the rides here, is interesting as an odd curio of of american companies trying to cater to chinese audiences for extra money. the park is on lantau island, so not super near the city proper, but it is on the way to the city from the airport. strong 7 to light 8.
shanghai disneyland: basically a redo of the "chinese disneyland" concept after they half-assed hong kong disneyland. very current-day disney, that is, lavish spending on preexisting skidmark. there aren't very many copies or rethemes of rides like the other parks have. the main standout is pirates of the caribbean: battle for the sunken treasure, which has a bunch of ride elements that aren't at any other parks. i liked zootopia: hot pursuit, but i think i posted about that already. park seems crowded always and your average parkgoer is a bit more willing to cut in line and push to get where they want to go than elsewhere. The park is located in an area called the international tourism and resorts zone, and is kind of far from the city proper and airport by public transit; while it's not as easy to fit into a larger trip as hong kong disneyland (~30 minutes from the airport or the city) or even disneyland paris (~10ish minutes from the airport, ~45ish from the city) it is still more accessible than the parks in the states. strong 6 to light 7.
zootopia 2: an anthro crime-themed family adventure that's about race (i guess?) but kind of falls apart if you try to make that theme a 1:1 comparison to irl. from the marketing i thought ke huy quan's character would have more to do/say, but the bulk of his character's screentime is spent wordlessly running away from judy and nick – this gets really weird when the end of act 2 has him saying judy is his best friend after they've been on screen together for a grand total of 3 minutes. i think in general, all the pieces that people liked about zootopia are here (furshit, woke stuff, buddy cop jokes), they just aren't joined together as well as they were in the first movie. i am still processing my feelings about judy's "mom outfit" at the beginning of the movie. strong 5 to light 6.
The bad guys 2: an anthro crime-themed family adventure that's about race (i guess?) but kind of falls apart if you try to make that theme a 1:1 comparison to irl. Having to reset the characters after the events of the first movie in order to do a "one last heist" plot creates a question of "why do the work to show you've changed even if the world at large doesn't care", which feels a bit novel for a movie for small children, but when you get down to brass tacks, this is a frothy vehicle that tries to deliver at least one gag every three minutes. i'm still processing my feelings about diane in gym attire/mr wolf in a wedding dress/etc. strong 5 to light 6.

>>173062fantasy race traits often map too cleanly onto existing racial tropes, causing issues when more fantastical traits on the race are misconstrued as commentary on the mapped race. zootopia tries to avoid this by making the racial traits unmappable onto real races, with mixed results – mapping predators to a marginalized group in zootopia 1 didn't really work because a lot of the rhetoric of predators as inherently violent echoed real prejudice against real marginalized groups, but also predators need to eat meat, so what does that say about those marginalized groups? in zootopia 2, reptiles are another marginalized group that's about to be gentrified out of their neighborhood due to encroachment of animals who need cold weather. this doesn't map cleanly onto a certain racial group, so it generally flies under the radar.

>>173066>fantasy race traits often map too cleanly onto existing racial tropesThis argument has always been gigaretarded. "Racial traits in fantasy are too much like stereotypes in real life" is equivalent to saying "Personal generalizations of things that aren't real are too similar to personal generalizations of things that are" Basically any trait you can apply to a fictional race has been applied to a race or ethnicity. Dishonest? Stupid? Lustful? Impulsive? Decadent? These are just traits that exist and Jews/blacks will always make about them because they've probably had the most stereotypes mapped onto them throughout history.
The "problem" is not that fantasy races are boring or can be read a certain way or are racist, the problem is that people are
SMURFING stupid. Racialism (of which races having semi-fixed traits is a part of), I'd argue, is a central tenet to fantasy that makes it distinct from sci-fi or other speculative fiction (
wweird fiction) because it's a form of social organization that precedes modern contractualist understanding of nation states- the same goes for how Gods are often citystate or race-specific and not nebulous world religions. Fantasy is meant to stop the clock on world history to a time where national mythos is still possible. This makes it seem like a very conservative thing at first but there is a liberal (or at least modernist) understanding that this kind of time can never exist again so the "fantasy" of a world that will perpetually exist in this state is created. The "fantasy" of the world is both of fantasy and creates fantasy.

Also, egg's a pretty strong taste so if I'm getting egg taste, I want to taste only egg alone (the only exception is Deviled Eggs™ where an olive is fine because an olive is also a pretty strong flavor.) A burger is meant to be savory; you are meant to SAVOR the flavor.
