Marzipan was right about comparing it to Con Air. It felt like an 80s movie because nobody shuts the fuck up. All movies look the same now though- A24ovision, everything's all blurred out unless it's in direct focus, I could probably be more articulate about this if I was forced to watch more movies and I gave a fuck. The big action setpiece at the end did feel directly ripped from the 80s though. I swear it was even colored different but I might be woozy.

I was never that big a film buff but I do like "horror" (violent movies that coinflip on a happy ending) movies and I swear there has been a huge genre switch-up that I don't think anyone has really paid attention to, not even my fellow gorehounds. I will dub this "The post-slasher" and this will be an incredibly important term and everyone will use it.
This is a movie where it's centered around killers trying to kill one particular person and incidentally just killing other people along the way; it incorporates the "final girl" element of typical slashers from the very start. I would like to say this was lionized in You're Next (2011) and has been steadily gaining traction since. I swear, it's more common than typical slasher movies these days.
But why? So someone can make quips. Terrorizer shows that there's still room for murderboner flicks but it's like room for one guy who's the most extreme guy in the room (think in terms of Belushis.) Other "horror" movies have been relegated to horror-action wearing action-masking and A24 SLOW BURNS.

I watched Internal Affairs and then The Departed. Soulless bugpeople can only make funny action movies, it's impossible to take the actors seriously when they pretend to have feelings.
