It distracts from the make-up, it puts your eyes around the mouth (not even on the mouth) and then makes the lips sort of stand out in a way that just isn't appealing even if you have good lips.
Okay, think about it like this, imagine if the aftershave was just a layer of foundation (2032!

Generally though, people are just less sincere on the Internet unless they're in some kind of hugbox. And hugboxes can pop up anywhere now due to social media and memes and fandumb. So it's a different kind of sincerity. It's calculated vulnerability rather than sincerity unto itself.
It's really less about the modality of the Internet and more about ultimately, digital noise pollution. Just too many people. Things are found faster and by more people. So it's a lot less gratifying to drop something heartfelt. Because the interactions are more interchangeable; they happen too frequently.

Watched The Turin Horse (2011). Belá Tarr's last directorial project and also the first thing I watch from him, very well made movie, but I found it almost detestable. It's about a man and a woman (unclear relation) living in a house in the middle of nowhere.
It's Eastern European misery slop. Unlike most Eastern European misery slops I've watched it focuses less on the mud, sweat and blood and tries to craft a drab repetitiveness.
Before I watched it I thought it would be a "people doing nothing but talking" kind of movie (kino), instead it was a "people doing nothing" kind of movie. Despite being purposefully slow and boring I found it to be quite an easy watch, and the minimalistic shots were well-composed and kind of cool. The best ones are when it does the very heavy white-and-black contrast thing slightly less sucessfully than its clear inspiration (Ingmar Bergman).
The movie is explicitly nihilistic, it's about how life is meaningless and God created a wicked world with no point. The very few dialogue exchanges about this are extremely eye rolling and pretentious.
The one theme is really
SMURFING good (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWjy8CgTQBQ) and makes the opening of the movie stand-out. The problems start when it continues playing in occasional scenes throughout the movie, the idea of this choice is clearly to give the monotony a grandiose significance, but instead it makes extended 2 minute shots of people standing doing nothing feel needlessly melodramatic. I guess it's my problem that I don't take the director's view that life is cosmically meaningless because people had to get water from the well in the past seriously enough. You'd think that an accomplished "slow cinema" filmmaker would have understood the lesson that if you're doing something deliberately boring you probably don't want to insert epic string arrangements to tell the viewer how to feel. This really brought the movie down for me.
I think overall it takes itself too seriously. It ends with some sort of darkness enveloping everything and then fades to black, I'm not
SMURFING joking.

ROSE LALONDE
Egypt and Jordan have been in bed with Israel since at least the mid-1970s (Jordan possibly earlier). Morocco since the early-1960s. Gaza and the West Bank are under a dual Egyptian-Israeli and a dual Jordanian-Israeli blockade for decades. UAE and KSA have literally worked with Israel to kill senior PIJ and Hamas leaders since the 1990s.
But the wider Muslim World is too stupid, so a leader simply not doing what Anwar Sadat did (in going to Jerusalem and speaking at the Knesset) is enough to never be held accountable. They literally shoot down missiles and drones from Yemen and Iraq targeting Israel, and not only will nobody not care but they might even gaslight you about how Egypt and Jordan might attack Israel to save the Palestinians.
I could go on a point by point and decade by decade list of all the psyops, disinformation and gaslighting that's involved in the Palestinian conflict and genocide. "Signal to noise ratio"… All of it has one goal, that it's never solved and that Israel's existence is not fundamentally threatened. The Palestinian Authority itself is literally a puppet state of Zionist Israel but who cares about that right?
Some might say that doesn't explain Egypt's oversized military, police and secret services apparatus, but that's because Egypt is a military dictatorship, worse than Pakistan's. The military is the economy and it's primary goal is to keep the country captured and therefore not pose a threat to Israel.
Egypt and Jordan are also in the Top 3 recipients of US foreign-aid, only behind Israel itself.
Arab and Muslim countries believe that Israel does not pose any threat to them as long as they do not threaten it, and indeed, there have been quite a few times of collaboration just because of this fact.
Terrorist organizations constantly threaten their regimes so they ask for Israel's help, while they publicly condemn Israel and threaten an invasion once a month just to appease the mob.
They pretend that they would attack Israel if they could, Egypt is already signaling ambition for war, they are building military bases in Sinai and have already moved about 80 tanks near the border, to prove they are not "in bed with Israel".
But those troops and bases are aimed mostly towards facilitating a potential relocation of Gazans into Egypt's Sinai Peninsula and partly aimed at Hamas / PIJ. The junta has also routinely blown up tunnels connecting Gaza to Egypt for decades now since the Hosni Mubarak era.
Egypt's junta is so up inside Israel's ass that El Sisi destroyed entire villages and deported several tens of thousands of Egyptians from the Sinai Peninsula just to eliminate any potential threat to Israel. They did this over and over, over the span of a decade, using the justification of minimizing tunnels used by Gazans, and later partly because there were some ISIS cells that formed in the area, possibly out of backlash. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have been reporting on the demolitions of homes and the forced evictions in the Sinai for over a decade.
Of course like so many other things, the mainstream media and most Muslims know nothing about this. What Israel does to Palestinians, the Egyptian junta also does to Palestinians and Egyptians.
But in any case, the Egyptians have built a huge army. This doesn't look like an army designed to fight a terrorist organization, this is an army whose objective is likely to be another state. The only other option I can think of that this is an army which is mainly designed to suppress its own population and keep Sisi in power, like any other Muslim dictatorship in the region, however I will argue that Egypt is aggressively arming itself and moving forces to the border. they have also built tunnels and bunkers throughout Sinai, and in their propaganda videos they show that they are storing missiles there, there are all sorts of other indications regarding the arming, and the deployment of storage facilities, equipment and forces, which at least gives the concrete sense that they are preparing for an invasion.
With that being said, Egypt is a welfare state on the verge of collapse, even with the fact that they purchase weapons from everyone possible, and I assume this is to reduce dependence on the US, I still don't see them surviving a war for more than a few months, they don't have the logistical capacity for that. But maybe they think that's all they need.
But that's a question for when - and if - Egypt actually goes to war with Israel.
Some people say that this is exactly how Egypt used to operate before the wars of 1967 and 1973. But you have to remember that then Egypt and Israel became allies not long after 1973. Eventually Egypt literally went to war with Libya over it in 1977. Then Egypt formally recognized Israel in 1978.
There was a time until 1950 when the UK opposed Israel. There was a time during the 1950s when the US supported Anti-Zionist Arabs over Israel. Look into the "American Friends of the Middle East" and the "Committee for Justice and Peace in the Holy Land"
The point is, references to events and dynamics from half a century or more ago are irrelevant to modern geopolitics, alliances and dynamics.
Egypt is an American puppet state that's ruled by a corrupt military dictator who was installed by the CIA/Mossad. Egypt won't attack its master's master. Deployment of military forces is just empty theater for the Egyptian people (who voted for the pro-Palestine and anti-Zionist Morsi when they had democracy) to make them think their government is doing something against Israel when it's really not.
If you want to know why the Arab countries aren't lifting a finger to help the Palestinians (and in many cases helping Israel instead), just look at their so called leaders. They're either unelected dictators or absolute monarchs who're all ZOG stooges. They don't answer to their people let alone represent them. This is by design because America doesn't want democracy in the Middle East (except for the jews of course) because democracy there threatens Israel. When Egypt finally got its first democratically elected leader in human history, he got couped and replaced with a bribed puppet.
Polling is banned in Saudi Arabia. Anyone who does polls without the government's approval is detained, imprisoned and tortured. However, the government recently decided to allow a poll on support for Palestine for the first time to send a massage to the Zionists who run America. The results were that 98% of Saudis support Palestine and 90% of Saudi oppose any normalization of ties with Israel. This was done for an arms deal with America that's intended to protect the Crown Prince from his own people (and even his own military forces) when normalization is done against the wishes of his people.
So, in short, the Arab governments maintain a secretive alliance with Israel despite their public rhetoric of condemnation. These regimes act as puppets for Western interests, prioritizing the suppression of their own citizens and the protection of Israel over the Palestinian cause. Military maneuvers and official statements from these nations are merely theatrical deceptions designed to appease an angry public while the states actively collaborate on security and intelligence. The persistence of the conflict is a deliberate geopolitical outcome facilitated by autocratic leaders who rely on foreign aid and military support to remain in power. - RL No.1281

I know it's been said before but are we really considering just outright descriptive words slurs now. DO WE SAY HANDICAPPED? IS THAT THE ONLY WORD FOR THEM? BUT HANDICAPPED CAN ALSO BE OFFENSIVE, TO THE HANDICAPABLE. It reminds me of when there was a brief but hard push (

Homestark's biggest and longest-lasting effect on Internet culture is this mindset and it's cancer.
Now if it was reasonable to find normal conversations online (it isn't anymore) "nerd culture" would still be irredeemably doomed because you have a bunch of people in it for the aesthetic, fan content, just a circlejerk, etc.
Anyone have that one comic about how hobbies are ruined by one guy who invites his friend and then his friend invites the other friend (who's just there because his friend is there) who invites a girl who is only there to get attention from guys who then attracts a frat bro who is just there to pick up chicks and then everyone originally interested in the space leaves? It's come popping back into my head a lot lately.
Makes me think there isn't any point to trying to carve out a refuge in this shithole of a digital planet. Political shitflinging and other forms of gayops only add fuel to the flame.

I think a 4 remake would have to be more ambitious (especially with its environments) and really lean into the "no, bro, you actually have to care about the characters" which probably comes with its own retcon edition™ which 4 never got (while Strange Journey did). Apocalypse doesn't count because it's a more traditional sequel.
This is just how I'd run ATLUS (but only in an attempt to imitate their existing hyper-cynical philosophy- from the execs-, which I think is combined with what I imagine is some level of unbelievably dense "narrative experimentation"- from the "creatives.")

I called this "shonen villain writing" (Naruto specifically came to mind) but what do you call this animeism/Japism where a character has essentially one personality trait (best summarized by a word) and then their entire personality is extrapolated around some grand philosophy around that one trait/word. It's certainly not only in anime/Japanese fiction, but it seems especially prevalent in it. Seeing 100L, it seems like it falls into that (

) and Danganronpa does too, to a lesser extent, probably.
Let me try to illustrate an example. Like how a fan Wiki would describe them:
"Yamada Tarō is prone to lying, even when they serve no benefit. Yamada Tarō often mocks the idea of truth and says that only lies hold value. If pressured, Yamada Tarō will often avoid talking or speak ambiguously so as not to say something that is objectively true. Yamada Tarō holds those who believe in "truth" as a virtue with contempt and treats them with sadistic mockery. Although Yamada Tarō works with and under others, he prides himself on his individualism. Because he is never acting truthfully, he believes that he can't be manipulated. Moreover, he believes that what he says and does, either being ambiguous or deceitful, helps people discover their independence because what they interpret is ultimately up to them since his convictions hold no sway in what they're reacting to. When confronted with something paradoxical or something that he said that can be interpreted as "a truth", he will become incredibly dismissive and say that everything is ultimately a lie so there's no difference towards telling the truth. Ironically, he has said that he considers lies the only real truth which shows that he does value truth on some level though this may itself be a lie and a way to convert others to his method of thinking. Yamada Tarō is not phased by betrayal and often seeks out those who have opposed him before instead of more natural allies. It is said that he has a competitive spirit."
What would you call this very broad trope? Moreover, you know what I'm talking about, right?
I realize that this is essentially a Flanderized version of Garak from DS9. I would not consider Garak to be an example of this kind of writing. Not just for the obvious reasons but because this type of character tends to be very proactive (since it's the only semi-natural way for their monologues to be written in) and some kind of side character in a side plot that intercepts the main plot. This consideration does technically disqualify Danganronpa characters but I still see some as useful examples. MUH DESPAIR. MUH HOPE. No.1439
