>>58816It's unpleasant. I thought the intro was nice and I was even optimistic as many as 30 seconds into the second "song" but it just continues like that, why can't they get rid of the ear
DIAP parts? They clearly did structure this album intentionally by interleaving ear
DIAP with piano songs, but are the songs even "metal" without ear
DIAP? It's more like a 30 minute song than an album.
>Well, Anon, is that enough to convince you of the authenticity of people who like to listen to albums?Of *your* authentic enjoyment to some degree, yes, and that "listens to albums" isn't a useful place to draw a line for stereotyping [a category of person who I've talked to and who I still think exists]. I'm surprised that an album picked at random had a structure and wasn't just a collection of songs.

Alright, folks, let me tell you about Naoto Shirogane from Persona 4. Unbelievable character, really. If you want to talk about rushed, this character is the definition of rushed. You look at Naoto, and it’s so obvious — they clearly threw her in at the last minute. She doesn’t belong in the game. She just doesn’t fit in. You have this great group of characters, all well-developed, with meaningful backstories, and then, BAM! Here comes Naoto, out of nowhere, just popping up in the middle of the story. It’s like the developers said, "Hey, let’s throw in some detective, because why not?"
The problem is, she doesn't have any real development! She’s a detective, sure, but what do we know about her? Nothing! She’s just there because they needed someone to fill a spot. You look at people like Kanji and Rise — now they have character! Kanji, with his tough exterior and vulnerable side, his struggle with his identity, and his whole arc? Beautifully done. Rise? A pop star with a real dilemma about what it means to be herself outside of the spotlight? Incredible development! But Naoto? Nah, she just shows up, and boom, she’s a part of the crew. Where’s her arc? Where’s the emotional depth? It’s like they thought, "Let’s make her a girl, throw on some glasses, and call it a day." It’s lazy!
And don't even get me started on how she just ruins the small-town investigation feel of the game. Persona 4 is this fantastic, grounded story about this group of high school kids trying to solve this bizarre mystery in a sleepy little town. It’s raw, it’s real. And then bam, Naoto shows up with her whole detective shtick, all serious and professional, as if she’s some kind of adult among all these kids. The whole point of Persona 4 was the coming-of-age story, figuring out who you are and how to fit in. But here comes Naoto, totally out of place, acting like she’s way more experienced than everyone else. It’s awkward!
Now, compare her to Kanji and Rise, two characters who actually earned their place. Kanji’s introduction was brilliant! He starts off as this tough, misunderstood guy, but you learn about his insecurities, his confusion about his own identity. You feel for him! Rise, she’s a pop idol, but she struggles with being seen as more than just a pretty face. She’s real, she’s got depth, and her arc gives her meaning. They both don’t come in until later in the game, which is good! You get a sense of how important they are to the group when they finally show up. But Naoto? They just shove her in the middle of the story, and you never get a real sense of why she’s even there in the first place. She’s a detective, but she doesn’t contribute much to the investigation. What does she do? Solve a couple of mysteries? Yeah, okay. We get it, she’s a “genius.” But there’s nothing behind it!
▶ No.59155>>59159
>>59154Naoto doesn’t challenge the team like Kanji does, she doesn’t bring new perspective like Rise does — she just kind of… exists. You’re thinking, “Why is she even here?”
I’m not saying she’s completely useless, but compared to the other characters, she feels like a side note. She’s like that extra who gets added to the movie at the last minute, and you’re thinking, "Who is this? Why are they even here?" Not the strongest addition to the party, folks. No way!
In conclusion, Naoto Shirogane just doesn’t belong in Persona 4. She’s not developed enough, she disrupts the small-town feel, and when you compare her to the fantastic development of Kanji and Rise, it’s clear she’s just not up to par. You want a good character? Look at Kanji. Look at Rise. They’ve got layers, they’ve got stories. Naoto? Not so much. Very disappointing. Believe me!

Danganronpa Yellow is good. The Danganronpa premise is good despite how contrived it is, so long as the writing and characters aren't abysmally garbage.

>so long as the writing and characters aren't abysmally garbagein a typical VN/ADV game this is the majority of the draw though… and man, was danganronpa 1/2 lacking for me in those areas. if danganronpa didn't have the classroom trial gameplay to prop it up it would be irredeemably bad imo (I realize that's kind of a silly hypothetical since it's so central to the game, but it was the only part that made me feel like I wasn't wasting my time playing :^/)
