Title: Jenny Nicholson and the Hypnotic Haze
It was a regular afternoon for Jenny Nicholson—at least, as regular as an internet-famous YouTuber’s day could be. She had just finished recording her latest video about some niche pop culture reference and was scrolling through her messages when she stumbled upon a peculiar link. The URL was cryptic and strange, filled with letters and numbers that didn't quite make sense, but it was attached to a mysterious message: "For the curious… Prototyping awaits."
Jenny raised an eyebrow. The phrase "prototyping" wasn’t unfamiliar to her—after all, she had seen Homestuck memes scattered across the internet for years. She had never gotten fully into the webcomic, but she recognized the names and the bizarre world that came with it. Her curiosity piqued, she clicked the link.
The page opened, and Jenny found herself on a strange site: Megidochan.de. The design was archaic, the colors too vibrant, and the content filled with odd forums and chat rooms. In one of the sidebars, she spotted a forum titled “Simps of the Ancients.” Intrigued and perhaps a little amused, Jenny clicked on it, only to be greeted by an odd post.
"Prototyping required. Make your choice, and the path will open."
Underneath the message were two options:
Vriska Sekret
Aradia Megido
Jenny blinked, unsure what it all meant. Vriska Sekret? That sounded like a twist on the Homestuck character Vriska Serket, known for her cunning, ruthlessness, and hypnotic abilities. Aradia Megido was another Homestuck character, but Vriska had always been more infamous for her hypnotic charms.
With a casual click—partly out of curiosity, partly because the idea of “prototyping” sounded fun—Jenny selected Vriska Sekret.
Instantly, a bright flash filled her screen, and her body was consumed by an odd, tingling sensation. Her eyes widened as she felt herself merging with something—not just mentally, but physically. Her mind connected with something ancient and powerful. It was as if she was being infused with the persona of Vriska Sekret, her memories, her powers, her very essence.
When the sensation finally subsided, Jenny sat back, blinking in confusion. She could feel a surge of power inside her, a dark, magnetic force she had never experienced before. Her hand instinctively lifted to her face, and when she looked at her reflection on the screen, she saw her usual self—but there was something different now. Her eyes glowed a deep, hypnotic blue, and the corners of her mouth twitched in a way that was unsettlingly familiar.
It was then that she realized: she could feel it. The power of Vriska’s hypnosis was hers now.
Her phone buzzed with a notification. She glanced at it—Megidochan.de: 200 New Simps.
A grin spread across her face. This was going to be fun.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the internet, the Simps of Megidochan.de were busy engaging in their usual online worship. They adored their favorite characters, from obscure anime to Homestuck gods. But lately, there had been whispers of a new figure—a mysterious force that seemed to pull everyone into her orbit. Some spoke of it in hushed tones; others, in awe.
It was Jenny—or rather, Vriska—who had arrived.
With a flick of her wrist, Jenny opened a new tab and connected to the Megidochan.de chatroom. The avatars of the unsuspecting simps blinked on her screen, all displaying their undying devotion to characters like Vriska herself, Terezi Pyrope, and other Homestuck favorites. As Jenny typed her first message into the chatroom, her fingers danced with an eerie confidence.
"Hey there, simps. Ready to fall under my spell?"
One white knight, going by the username "VriskaFan69," responded almost immediately, "OMG IS THAT VRISKA?! ARE YOU REALLY HERE???"
Jenny leaned back in her chair, her eyes glowing brightly as she spoke again. The words seemed to swag with an unnatural allure, as if they carried a weight that couldn’t be ignored.
“Look into my eyes. Listen to my voice. You’re getting sleepy… so very sleepy.”
At first, the responses came slowly—nervous laughter, more questions, a few skeptical comments—but then, the tide turned. One by one, the avatars of the simps began to falter. Messages became slower, responses slurred, and their chatter grew distant as they stared at their screens.
"I… I don't know what’s happening…" one white knight typed before their messages abruptly stopped.
Jenny smirked, reveling in the power she now wielded. She was no longer just Jenny Nicholson—the YouTuber, the meme queen. She was something else, something far greater. Vriska’s influence coursed through her veins, bending the will of every white knight who dared enter her orbit.
"Shhh…" Jenny whispered through the chat. "You don’t need to fight it. You want to sleep. You need to sleep."
The simps, unable to resist, began to obey. Their messages stopped completely, and the avatars slumped into an eerie stillness, their owners lost in a hypnotic trance.
No.57180
>>57179Jenny’s grin widened. All around the forum, the once-bustling community of Megidochan.de lay dormant. Every white knight had succumbed to her powers. The chatrooms were silent. The threads that had once buzzed with activity were now filled with nothing but a stillness that echoed across the internet.
But Jenny didn’t stop there. No, she had something more in mind.
She opened another window, this time on a larger scale—an all-user announcement.
"To all who follow the Simps of the Ancients, know this: You are now in my control. Welcome to the Vriska Hypnotic Experience. For the rest of your lives, you will worship me—unquestioningly, sleepily, forever. Don’t try to resist. You won’t remember how to."
The final message appeared in bold letters. The page then refreshed, showing nothing but a large image of Jenny’s face, now with glowing, hypnotic eyes. The phrase “SLEEP NOW” was repeated underneath, a command written in a swirling font that seemed to pulse with power.
And just like that, every last white knight on the site—whether they liked it or not—had fallen under her control, their will sapped by her hypnotic charm. Jenny, now fully fused with the essence of Vriska Sekret, took a deep, satisfied breath.
In the world of the internet, power was fleeting, but in that moment, she was untouchable. And all of Megidochan.de would remain in a deep, hypnotic slumber, forever lost to her whims.
As for Jenny, she took a moment to marvel at her new influence. She could probably still upload her next YouTube video… but right now, she had more important matters to attend to.
After all, a queen needed her throne. And she had just conquered an entire internet fandom.
The End.

Here's another chatGPT story from the depths of my spiteful tar pit that is known as my heart:
Scene: The camera fades in on an old, dimly lit living room. There's the faint smell of reheated pizza rolls in the air. Mr. Plinkett, the eccentric and often irritable old man, sits slouched in a decrepit chair, holding a game controller. He looks like he's just been on a 12-hour bender of frustration, irritation, and snark. His glasses are slightly crooked, and his unshaven face is framed by an unkempt beard. The TV screen in front of him flashes the title screen of Persona 2.
Mr. Plinkett: grumbling
"Persona 2… huh. People say it’s a classic, but let me tell you, this game feels like a chore. You kids today with your ‘Persona 5,’ living in your fancy palaces and your fast-paced combat… you have no idea how good you have it."
He picks up the controller with a huff and clicks through the menus. The screen shows a dungeon, and he's about to enter a battle.
Mr. Plinkett:
"Alright, here we go again. Another round of this garbage. Wait, hold on—let me just check my Fool cards… oh, look at that. I’ve got two of ‘em! Which means I need—what?—six more before I can do anything useful with ‘em? This is insane! I hate this game."
He pauses and rubs his temples as the game asks him to perform yet another shuffle of tarot cards to generate Fool cards. The screen fills with an obnoxious array of choices as the grinding mechanic kicks in.
Mr. Plinkett:
"Why the hell do I have to grind for cards? And not even useful cards, noooo, I have to grind for the Fool card. Because, you know, the game just LOVES making you work for the things you need. You know, back in my day, we just had… I don't know, maybe something not as annoying as this. I don’t need to be your Fool, I need to get on with the game!"
He sighs dramatically and tosses the controller on the couch, leaning back.
No.57256
>>57255Mr. Plinkett:
"And don't get me started on the combat. It’s so slow. I mean, look at these animations. It's like they're walking through molasses. Ugh. You hit an enemy, and then it takes twenty seconds before they even react. Then, you do it again. And again. And again. You know what I want? I want Persona 5's combat. Fast, fluid, and stylish. It's like a damn music video. Boom! Done! Every time you hit an enemy, it feels like you're cutting through the action."
He points aggressively at the screen, even though there's no one else in the room.
Mr. Plinkett:
"And what’s with the summons in Persona 2? You gotta mix your demons together like you're trying to cook a five-course meal. It’s like the game thinks you’ve got all day. What happened to just collecting ‘em and using ‘em? Why do I need to mix them, and then grind out more Fool cards just to get anywhere? It’s like a double whammy of pointless busywork! Do I look like I’ve got time for this? I’m just trying to save Tokyo from whatever mess this game’s thrown me into. I don’t need to become some… tarot card collector in the process."
He leans forward and the controller clicks loudly as he navigates the menus.
Mr. Plinkett:
"Oh great. I can convert cards to Fool cards now. Wow, that really fixes everything. More grinding! Because, you know, after spending hours in a dungeon just to find the right card, now I get to… just turn other cards into Fool cards? What, you think that makes it better, huh? You just gave me a bigger pile of grinding to chew through. This isn’t a game; this is a second job."
The camera zooms in on Mr. Plinkett’s annoyed face as he presses buttons furiously.
Mr. Plinkett:
"You kids, you think you’re playing some sort of masterpiece with all this cryptic stuff and deep emotional nonsense. You know what I want? I want a game where I can play—where I can get in, do some stylish attacks, and get out. No card shuffling. No worrying about what kind of Fool cards I need. Just straight-up action."
He pauses and smiles to himself, shifting his posture and tapping the controller.
Mr. Plinkett:
"FFFUUUUUUU-… Persona 5’s combat is fast, fluid, and stylish. No card nonsense, no grinding for dumb nonsense. You fight, you win, you get the hell on with it. Everything just feels better. And the music! God, don’t get me started on the music. When you pull off a flashy move in Persona 5, you actually feel like you did something. In this game? I’m just wasting my time… fighting nothing but random encounters and waiting for my Fool cards."
He leans back, groaning again.
Mr. Plinkett:
"Anyway, I’m done. I’ve had enough of this. I’m gonna pop in Persona 5 and see some real combat, not this slow, plodding nonsense. And if anyone tells me to keep grinding for Fool cards again, I swear to God, I’m gonna lose my mind."
The screen flickers as Mr. Plinkett throws his hands up in exasperation, walking out of the frame. The camera zooms in on the paused Persona 2 screen, where the Fool card grinding is about to start again, and the music keeps playing… relentlessly.

We call it cozy-with-bite: making this beautiful, wholesome world people want to live in, and still have a tonne of fun, with challenge you can opt in to. Plus we want romance in there, but like, the messy kind.”
>On the worldbuilding in Crescent County, Anna comments “I think genre mashups are where all the interesting stuff is. It’s sci fi and fantasy remixed to make souped-up motorbike brooms, and bathed in vibey lofi and alt-rock, playing out of your chunky 00s flip phone. It’s roller derby, scrappy, do-it-yourself zine subculture. It’s Ghibli but with considerably more crop tops and chokers. >>55178idk if MEX is around but - I encountered this same blurriness issue on marzichan today, and the more I try to examine it the more confused I am. it's not related to the 98% max-width at all, which it seems is actually an important setting on stock vichan to make sure images still have a right-hand margin even if they want to expand all the way to the right-hand browser edge. for some reason, this doesn't seem to ever happen on megidochan, even with the max-width set to 100% (maybe you've made changes that prevent this in other ways?)
but anyway, the really bizarre thing is that this blurrines happens even with relatively small images when first looking at them, but after what seems like an arbitrary amount of time (combined with expanding and shrinking the image by clicking it several times), it "snaps" into focus and looks sharp as intended. is this some kind of subpixel alignment fuckery with the browser's renderer? it's not fixed on megidochan either (at least with STUCK), I just saw it happen with the image in this post:
>>57574 and was able to reproduce it like 8 times before it stopped happening
this is the marzichan post where I noticed it:
https://marzichan.org/plaza/thread/263.html#270the image has pixel dithering and single pixel lines in some portions (the rim of the coffee mug is an easy place to spot it). earlier today I reproduced this like a dozen times by refreshing the page and looking at it while clicking it over and over, but eventually it stopped happening and now it's always sharp-looking. is caching involved somehow?? I feel like I'm going insane, this has made me doubt my eyes a couple times

I'm not familiar with vast error, but I looked it up upon you mentioning it, and the art (at least for the cover and first few pages) looks fine.
it's possible you just value different things than I do, but the idea that a work's value or authenticity comes primarily from imitating the source work in superficial ways ("I drew it on the same operating system and the same software" even though the comic's distinctive visual traits can easily be achieved on any well-featured art software) is just silly. it's fine to indulge those obsessive details for your own enjoyment, but acting like it's at all related to capturing what's important about the work is misguided, like insisting on using the same stock of paper as your favorite artist while ignoring aspects like composition, perspective, style - everything that's happening inside the artist's head.

ghibli movies exemplify the "great, but takes no risks" archetype for me. it's possible I only feel this way because of the constant praise ghibli gets everywhere, but all the ghibli films I've seen feel incredibly sanded down; I'm never surprised or energized by a sudden narrative turn or stylistic twist, the art is always beautiful in the same very consistent, soft way. they are clearly lovingly made and their production quality is unassailable, and I DO enjoy watching them, but I don't think anyone would ever really be put off by the creative decisions in a ghibli movie. they're wide-audience movies, and I think that just kind of makes it less likely to really wow me. in this way I think their current reputation as a sort of universally loved millennial "comfort media" goes beyond just a stereotypemaybe I would feel differently if I had seen, say, spirited away with no contextual knowledge as a teen or adult. but I saw it as a young child and so even that one which is probably one of the more unpredictable "wild rides" feels unsurprising. disclaimer that there are also still many I have not seen yet No.57848

>>58031To answer the question I think you’re trying to ask, the ideal Homestuck would have seen Andrew be completely mentally untouched by his fans, not include any fan assets in the final product, determine the ending ahead of time instead of improvising it, and rethink/redistribute some of the stronger aspects of the comic so it actually does build over time and peak at the end. The fact that Scratch is a better villain than English is a problem. Also, the story needs to be rewritten around a concept that has some reality to it; if the goal of the protagonists is to deal with an unbeatable final boss, there needs to be an actual solution to that and it needs to make actual sense, like how Johnny was able to beat Love Train because Tusk’s power is infinity. You know, take that principle, but apply that to something meaningful. If Andrew couldn’t do that with the English plotline, he shouldn’t have tried to build it up so much.

>>58059When I first read Homestuck, I wasn’t sitting there thinking “Wow! This is the thing that’s going to define the rest of my life! And the guy who made it is my god!” I was still a kid with a simple, podunk creative style. I did a Minecraft comic inspired by Machinima-era gamer cartoons and my main influences were Calvin And Hobbes, Shonen Jump and Foxtrot. I did stupid shit that could be hung up on the walls of the classroom of my awful school because that’s what the adults in my life wanted out of me. I looked at Hussnasty Mode and went “Ew! I don’t like this new artist as much. Turn it back.” Even though I drew plenty of ugly, goofy stuff myself, because I was conditioned by normalfags to admire unachievable beauty and Japanese entertainment and shit and I wasn’t ready to accept the importance that that quality of myself represented yet. I wasn’t ready to embrace how deeply I understood it, or all the layers of irony, or all the bizarre, dark, cynical humor, because I was still busy being a cringy tween. I thought that eventually I was going to jettison all this lame comic strip crap, get the real talent, and design super-intricate stick fight animations for a video game. Now, as an adult,I understand that that was always unattainable, and that there was a reality to the simplicity of my old comics, and that it represented the reality of my decision-making. Now I understand that Andrew and I are the exact same breed, and I’m retracing his footsteps meticulously to understand myself as much as I can looking in from the outside. Now I appreciate every ounce of the depth and personality of Homestuck because I know it’s something I could have done all along, and I know that Homestuck is the pinnacle of anything I could achieve in the way of traditional beauty, but I also understand that there’s a deeper, more existential layer to all this. I’m really tired of people shitting on me for feeling these things just because I prioritize conveying my actual feelings over looking smug and intelligent.

>you have value that goes beyond your particular cultivated taste in this momentA lot of people don't. And that is why I hate them. Everything is tangled in loops. Alt-culture is dominated by poseurs still in the fundamental superstructure of culture. Mass-media, globalized culture is defined by one thing- primarily, interchangeability. Interchangeability between different cultures and between itself and other things; transience, intangibility. You look at one thing and you see how it incorporates all of these subcultural trends and now it's the "big thing" and it's seen as insular because of one element from the lesser homogeneity- leading to the creation of the greater homogeneity. With each day that passes, the cries against corporate boardroom demographics testing becomes more and more hollow. Brilliance only comes from polishing something into the brittle and frail.

>>58067>I’m really tired of people shitting on me for feeling these things just because I prioritize conveying my actual feelings over looking smug and intelligent.I say this genuinely, I'm not here to dunk on you and keep posting - the reason people are "shitting on you" (I wouldn't go quite that far) is because they recognize that the way you're describing your relationship with Hu¢¢ie/his work
sounds a little delusional.
statements like this one:
>Now I understand that Andrew and I are the exact same breedwithout more explanation can sound somewhat arrogant, because you're positing yourself as "exactly the same" as someone who is ostensibly a talented and famous webcomic author. that doesn't mean you can't relate to him in certain ways, but it's important to remember that even if you trudge through ALL of his work that you can find, it's not like you "know" Hu¢¢ie like you know yourself.
I don't think you're getting mocked for embracing your genuine feelings of admiration, wonder, inspiration, and influence sprouting from Hu¢¢ie and his works (SOME people will mock you for so sincerely loving something, but I wouldn't, at least). people are mocking you because it sounds like you have become obsessively lost in your admiration of this man (who again, you
don't know beyond the image you've conceptualized from his public work), and are now starting to restructure your life and creative pursuits around that man's life, even in obviously silly ways ("I will use the same OS and drawing software as Hu¢¢ie"). EVEN DOING THIS could be okay if you demonstrated awareness: "yeah, I know, kinda crazy, but I really like the idea of sort of method-acting him, to get inside his creative mindset" ← THIS might be a way to introduce the idea while still sounding kind of normal.
but instead you use words like "disciple" and immediately shout down anyone who points out that, hey, this worship and imitation is a little weird, and maybe not good for you.
