I've also unfortunately discovered the whole Japanese dub on Youtube as well.

I may watch it

First half of Ep 0, JP dub review: Not bad, could be way worse, but it starts getting overly literal near the end. I guess they got tiwed

No.515
Also, I like how the JP dub preserved Odd sounding like an 8 year old girl.

It turns out that "Episode 0" is actually a prequel thing that was made during production of the 3rd season. This indicates that the FR->EN translator is insane, but that is exactly what I was hoping for. Thankfully, it does not spoil anything. I kind of liked the whole thing where they make you think Sissi is going to be part of the main cast, honestly. I guess it's really supposed to be "this is why everyone hates her," like her being an annoying 8ITCHslut wasn't enough.
No.517
I enjoyed it.
No.524
Really shitty images too. Where else do I look??
No.525
Aelita and Jellymon and Skyward Sword Zelda and were all the same actor… Also Aida (G-Reco) but she's not as waifu.

No.531
Ulrich taking an elementary schooler to the dance just to own Sissi is hilarious. "Yeah, I'd rather be a nepetaphile than go out with you."
No.532
The JP script is "I'll go out with you too once you grow up a bit", which is a good own and makes it make more sense and have a bit of a moral to it. The FR->EN one is just "stop being a retarded 8ITCH lol." I crammed it through google translate to make sure the translator wasn't going completely insane, and it seems accurate.

This is PISSING me off! "collège" does NOT mean college.

>>536Yeah I genuinely wondered if the characters were actually adult-ish and I remembered the show wrong. It would have explained why things tend to get so steamy (the truth is french people are just really horny i guess)

No.559
Kind of a boring episode.
Weirdly high stakes and the X.A.N.A plot had nothing to do with the school B plot with the band, which is not necessarily a bad thing just kind of unexpected for a second episode. Also the Yumi thing with trying to warn the town was kinda useless, I think I hate the reverse time thing.
In the first scene I thought the implication was that the nuclear plant guy visiting the school had something to do with the virtual world stuff, but presumably he doesn't have any interesting reactions when Yumi goes to the principal's office, so I dunno.
No.560
>>559"Weirdly high stakes" and "totally unrelated A and B plots" are what I'm expecting for the whole series, tbqh.
No.561
>>560Weird. I thought most episodes would be X.A.N.A making something in the school directly related to the B plot go haywire and then the kids fix it and learn a lesson kind of stuff.
No.562
How do we get Code Lyoko into fortnite? Imagine having the four different biomes and moving between them through the towers and the enemies and the time reversal kicking in at the end of the match.

No.563
Outdating posting keys made me lose a clipboard image… Oh well. I thought they said they stopped doing the shitty interpolation after ep1 but it feels even worse now.
No.565
Coach Jim was really groovin there wtf
No.566
Everyone nearly dying taught them to value their acquaintances, even if they don't always get along! But really though, I think they mostly see the B plot as an excuse for why they don't all just go to lyoko immediately any time anything slightly suspicious happens. They gotta have lives, y'know.

Reads on episode 2 were right, XANA's sabotage had nothing to do with any character motivations (besides basic survival)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEQLApEU10AThe shitty interpolation isn't going away… Deviantart is absolutely crawling with really generic AI uploads. Not sure what the point is when anyone that wants to see that can just generate their own.

There's also a guy uploading screenshots from the show with the media player controls visible and a bunch of other strange things. I guess people use deviantart as a weird, glorified twitter clone now?

Lots to unpack here
https://codelyoko.fandom.com/wiki/Garage_KidsXANA being a holdover from when Lyoko was called Xanadu is neat. Kinda weird how Tokyo Xanadu ended up being similar to Code Lyoko… Something is up.
No.613
I bet the wiki is going to relentlessly spoil the show making comparisons between it and the pilot so I won't read too much of that…
No.614
>Garage Kids offers in each of its 26 episodes of 26 minutes a complete story in which Odd and his friends – Yumi, Ulrick and also Jeremie, a computer wizard – try to end one of the disturbances in the computer network caused by Xanadu's exuberance
Extremely weird how Odd is treated like the main character and the other three are just the supporting cast, and Jeremie of all people gets the "also".
No.616
I didn't think about it at all, but the whole… mellow, slightly run-down urban vibe really is directly from lain, huh?

Imagine if they had the budget to keep the animation quality up… And certainly the show isn't that episodic. I know some of the plot points from the later seasons.
No.622
I do feel like this week's episode was a bit better. Feels less stilted, both in writing and animation, or at least direction. Still suffering from being EPISODIC and stuff just kind of happening.
No.625
It really seems like there's an implication that Return To The Past can't undo death. I wonder if they'll ever explain that.
No.626
It was alright
No.649
It's comforting knowing that Ulrich probably isn't a self-insert since the guy left the project before episode writing began.
No.650
I like how Jeremie isn't just a walking nerd trope. He can make jokes, he can be slick. I kind of expected the show to be "the three cool kids helping out the nerd due to shared values", but he fits in with the rest of them really well. They feel like a solid friend group.
