>About three days since the pilot>Nobody even mentions itChecks out. There was exactly one thing I liked John leaving a hole in the shape of his sprite- Rose sounding like every Rose barely counts too, I guess. Everything else is too minute to mention and there is an overwhelming number of things that make me want to grind my teeth into dust.
Here is videoslop to add to the pain.
I was thinking before, in line of things to post here and not on /hot/, that Exiles serve as another example of radical reassertion of self that I've been realizing is "a thing" in Homestuck because no character really changes so much as they come to terms with who they are. To explain why this barely has coherence and is a pretty shitty through-line for the comic takes a lot of effort and I haven't found the words to be eloquent and precise about it, but, it is still, "a thing." It also made me briefly think about the threefold retcon of the Exiles being chessmen and a predetermined revolution seemingly being a part of the game. This is a retcon people don't complain enough about. Probably because /co//v/id is stupid.

Chess as an exemplative game becoming increasingly complex with dimensions is something briefly alluded to by the comic and by the commentary (I'm surprised Huss avoided the Star Trek reference.) Something something should have bee something to give more relevance to Space. I'd imagine some thematically heady version of Homestuck would allude to ideas from pure mathematics, graph theory, game theory, and set theory about how all the pieces and function of the game are interchangeable with objects, edges, and vertices since it's just an easy way of conveying "videogames are arbitrary" and an easy way to show Platonic Realism as "a math thing." But the chessmen are barely chessmen so the point is moot- and "the game" is also steeped in biological motifs which I see as a juxtaposition not properly reconciled in the comic even when… it should be.
It also became clear that this idea of the "radical reassertion of the self/identity" is analogous to alchemy (mainly through unga bunga character not!archetype reoccurrence) ; specifically the process of distillation in circulation. With how the comic is written, it might as well be a coincidence. However, the idea that the radical reassertion of self is related to the process of alchemical purification through game mechanics is such an interesting idea that I'm putting it in the "Should have been" box.
Whether the writer views this form of self-actualization as the "good enough" route that we all get or the comic is about how we're all (completely, not partially) trapped in this Neoplatonic gnostic blah blah blah idea of "Oneness" is unclear. This is an ambiguity I can confidently chalk up to bad writing alone.

A lot of this kind of stuff brushes off of me because it's just not how I spend my time and I just genuinely can't comprehend why others do so. It just looks like "alt" slop, frankly. One of them is talking about these hyper specific "issues" that I A - don't know about B - don't care about C - will go on that way unless I specifically sit down to watch (same ways I don't give two shits about what's going on in shitrael and palerstain, etc.) and the other just looks like it's a very sterotypically autistic "asian tradwife" type beat content made by someone who can't even speak with two specks of confidence in their tone, muttering autistic guttural noises like "ugn, hunghf, so gais" and as such, mid speech. The worst offender is probably the fact that the THUMBNAIL that provides bait for the horny, is, cruelly juxtaposed with this retarded chink's distorted forehead for twelve
SMURFING minutes dude. Jesus christ. I'd have some more respect if you just dropped a link to a porn film and go "I'm beating my shit NAO"

I guess I was also rethinking a format of how to put my Homestuck ideas (on my trip, after thinking about the Exile thing) and I worked on it a little. I don't know if it makes it more digestible to anyone (or more appealing to my biggest critic) though.

No.158917
It's not finished or complete or even probably worded the best it could be so I feel not regret posting it here:
"1-3 (In order of importance.)
(A- Primary to the idea of the comic and what seems to be the original authorial intent. B- Connecting ideas from the comic to outside ideas. C. Primarily ideas external to the comic that seemed useful in either conveyance or efficacy.)
1(A):
A videogame creation mythos.
Central importance of time travel including a past, present, future, and eternal version of self.
1(B):
An alchemy system that is central and fully interconnected to the rest of the game.
1(C):
An alchemy system that is “whole, capable of transformation, self-regulating, autonomous, and internally coherent."
2 (A):
Synthesizing the biological motifs of the game to the technological ones.
Emphasize that this is the (sexual) reproduction of the universe.
Have the central mechanics of the game and story ultimately be about some radical reassertion of the self.
Have SBurb be the villain and ultimately be defeated by the end.
The use of alchemy as a form of self-discovery for the characters.
2(B):
No (explicit) predestination.
Alchemy that is purely chronological, unrepeatable, irreversible, multilayered (Client-Player interaction), and require cooperation (in set sequence.)
2(C):
Synchronicity would be the previous session affecting the unpredictability within alchemy and enantiodromia being prototyping affecting the enemies.
The Mythological Roles would be the Jungian archetypes and the story conforms to the Hero's Journey from John's perspective.
3(B):
Important items being “psychic constructs” to the characters that reinforce themselves through alchemy and thus become more “real.”
3(C):
McLuhan's medium theory applying to the game and Pesterchum.
~ATH (through Pesterchum) applying to the structuralist definition of a narrative, its bifurcated organization (time and "space"), and its contradictory relation to time by being both continuous and divided.
The Battlefield being steeped in multiple mathematical concepts and fields and displaying the dimensionality of games affecting their complexity.
The progression of the comic itself being analogous to the alchemical process of circulation with distillation of the character's selves leading to purification of those qualities being present."
